Sensitive British military documents are said to have appeared on the darknet

The British Ministry of Defense (MoD) is investigating suspicions that Russian hackers have stolen hundreds of sensitive military documents.

According to the Mail on Sunday and the BBC, these files have surfaced on the dark web and contain information about eight Royal Air Force and Navy bases, as well as the names and email addresses of MoD employees.

The Dodd Group, a company that carries out maintenance and construction work, confirmed a ransomware incident in which a third party gained temporary access to parts of its internal systems. The company said it took immediate action to contain the attack and secure its systems.

The British Ministry of Defense said it would not disclose any further details in order to protect sensitive information. The investigation is ongoing and work is being done to improve security measures.

According to the British press, the stolen documents also include information about the RAF base in Lakenheath, where US F-35 fighter jets are stationed. The incident follows a series of other security breaches at the Ministry of Defense, including data leaks about Afghan citizens who have been resettled in the United Kingdom and information about British soldiers.
