Washington negotiates deployment of forces to Gaza. Hamas could receive amnesty

The United States is in talks with several countries about forming an International Stabilization Force (ISF) to be deployed in the Gaza Strip as part of President Donald Trump's peace plan. The main objectives are security, maintaining the ceasefire, and the partial withdrawal of the Israeli army from the southern part of the territory.

According to Axios, the ISF are to include a new Palestinian police force under the supervision of the US, Egypt, and Jordan, supplemented by soldiers from countries such as Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, and Turkey. Other countries have expressed concerns to the US about the chaotic security situation in Gaza.

“If there is no secure and credible administration for Gaza that Israel agrees to, we will find ourselves in a situation where Israel is constantly attacking,” the portal quoted a source as saying. At the same time, the US emphasizes that Hamas' approval is necessary to prevent the ISF from being perceived as an occupying force.

A key point of the plan is amnesty for Hamas members who surrender, as well as their protection from persecution.

Although Turkey has expressed interest in participating, Israel rejects a Turkish military presence in Gaza. However, the US wants to involve Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt in the process as mediators.
