Poll: AfD leads in Germany by a narrow margin, CDU/CSU and SPD without a majority

The latest INSA poll for Bild confirms that the AfD retains its lead in the German electoral preferences with 26 percent, just ahead of the CDU/CSU, who won 25 percent.

The Social Democrats (SPD) are stagnant at 15 percent, the Greens have strengthened slightly to 12 percent and have overtaken the Left Party (11 percent). Sahra Wagenknecht's New Alliance (BSW) has four per cent, while the FDP Liberals are down to three per cent.

As many as 11 percent of voters would support parties that did not cross the five percent threshold, which could lower the necessary threshold for a parliamentary majority to 45 percent.

Traditional coalitions (e.g. CDU/CSU-SPD) would not win a majority, according to the poll, but a potential AfD-CDU/CSU alliance would have 51 percent.
