Thunberg arrested in London during pro-Palestine protest

British police arrested Swedish activist Greta Thunberg during a pro-Palestinian protest in London on Tuesday, the British activist group Prisoners for Palestine said.

They clarified that Thunberg was arrested under the Terrorism Act for holding a banner reading "I support the prisoners of Palestine Action. I am against genocide".

A city spokesperson confirmed that two people were arrested first for throwing red paint at the building. Later, he said, a 22-year-old woman arrived at the scene and was arrested for displaying a banner in support of a banned organisation.

The activist group Prisoners for Palestine noted that the building had been targeted because it was used by an insurance company, which they said provided services to the British branch of the Israeli defence firm Elbit Systems.

Thunberg is known for her environmental statements and has repeatedly participated in various missions to promote not only the environment but also human rights.

In October, the 22-year-old was also detained by Israeli soldiers along with Slovakian Petr Švestek, along with 169 other activists. They were on board an international flotilla attempting to bring humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. After a few days, they were all deported.
