Netanyahu praises Trump, China calls for Maduro's release
The intervention of the United States leading to the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has provoked strong and divided reactions from the international community. At Platform X, French President Emmanuel Macron stressed the need for a peaceful and democratic transition of power.
"We hope that President Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, elected in 2024, will be able to ensure this transition as quickly as possible," he wrote.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz described the legal assessment of the US operation as complex, stressing that the principles of international law must apply. He warned of political instability in Venezuela and called for the provision of legal governance.
In contrast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised President Donald Trump for his "courageous and historic" leadership and highlighted the intervention as an act in the name of freedom and justice. Belarus categorically condemned the US intervention as aggression.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on the US to release Maduro and his wife immediately, ensure their personal safety and resolve the crisis through dialogue. According to Beijing, the United States violated international law and norms by deporting the Venezuelan leader.
