Ukraine will not restrict gas supplies despite Russian attacks
Despite massive Russian attacks on gas infrastructure, Ukraine does not plan to restrict gas supplies to the population or businesses. According to Serhiy Koreckiy, head of the state-owned company Naftogaz, all consumers remain fully supplied, although the attacks have significantly reduced domestic production and increased dependence on imports, particularly from the EU and the US.
Koreckyj also dismissed as false the information spread on Telegram about the restrictions being imposed.
Ukraine had previously prepared emergency scenarios, but these have not yet been implemented. The country is still struggling with widespread power outages, lasting up to half a day in some areas.
On the same day, parliament appointed Denys Shmyhal as the new energy minister. His priority will be to restore domestic production and ensure the stability of gas supplies to critical infrastructure.
