According to a Kurdish commander, the US should intervene more decisively in Syria.

Sipan Hamo, commander of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), has called on the United States to intervene more forcefully in the Syrian army's ongoing offensive in the northeast of the country. According to Hamo, Kurdish forces are facing a large-scale military campaign that threatens the territories they have administered for the past decade.

Government forces have captured several strategic locations, including the country's largest oil and gas field.

Hamo specified that negotiations with US envoy Tom Barrack have not yet resulted in any concrete steps towards a ceasefire. He emphasized that Kurdish ambitions are not separatist and that they see their future as part of Syria.

At the same time, however, he appealed that the only ones who can provide them with security guarantees in the current situation are the United States or its allies.

He also rejected any support for the YPG from Iran or Russia and indicated that he hopes for Israel's support, similar to its defense of the Druze minority.
