US President Donald Trump announced that "based on a very productive meeting" with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Davos, a framework for a future agreement on Greenland and the Arctic region had been established. He posted the announcement on his Truth Social platform.

Trump said that the resulting agreement should be beneficial not only for the US but for all NATO member states "if it is finalized." In connection with this, he withdrew the threat of tariffs against eight European countries, which were to take effect on February 1.

Details of the agreement have not yet been released.

The White House chief wrote that "further discussions are also underway regarding the Golden Dome project in connection with Greenland." According to his statement, US Vice President James David Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and "others as needed" are directly responsible for the negotiations.
