Drone strikes Gaza City, US negotiates with Netanyahu on next steps
Israeli fire killed three Palestinians in Gaza on Sunday, and four other civilians were wounded in a drone strike in Gaza City. The incidents took place in the north and south of the Gaza Strip, with the Israeli army refusing to comment on them.
At a time of tense truce, the United States is seeking diplomatic progress. US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing the importance of cooperation.
Since the start of the war, which was triggered by a Hamas attack in October 2023, more than 71,000 people have been killed, according to Palestinian data. Although the ceasefire agreement has been in place since October last year, the fighting continues, with each side accusing the other of violating it.
Most recently, there has also been talk of a plan for Israel to withdraw some of its troops and leave the administration of Gaza to Hamas.
