Mistake at the fertility clinic? Parents search for their biological child

A couple from Florida is suing the Fertility Center in Orlando after the woman gave birth to a child who, according to genetic tests, is not their biological offspring. Steven Mills and Tiffany Score claim that the clinic mistakenly implanted the wrong embryo, even though they had their own embryos frozen there five years ago, Fox News reports.

They discovered the discrepancy shortly after the birth when they noticed that their daughter had different racial characteristics, which led to DNA testing. The lawsuit also raises concerns that their biological embryo may have been implanted in another couple who are now raising their genetic child.

The couple claims that the clinic did not provide them with sufficient cooperation in finding the child's biological parents or in explaining what happened to their embryos.

Although they have formed a strong emotional bond with the child and would like to keep him in their care, they recognize that from a legal and moral standpoint, he should grow up with his biological parents. The clinic has tentatively agreed to genetic testing, but points to privacy concerns for other patients.
