JD Vance: Iran again attempting to develop nuclear weapons

According to Vice President JD Vance, the United States has evidence that Iran is again attempting to restart its nuclear weapons programme following US strikes on its nuclear facilities in June. Vance made the remarks shortly before planned talks between US and Iranian delegations in Geneva.

As reported by The Times of Israel, he emphasised that Washington’s position remains unchanged – Tehran must not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons. If it seeks to resume its programme, the United States would regard this as a serious problem.

However, Vance said President Donald Trump’s administration still prefers a diplomatic solution. Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also expected to attend the talks.

At the same time, he noted that the president has other options at his disposal and that Washington is keeping its options open should a tougher course become necessary.
