Clinton tells committee on Epstein: ‘I didn’t see anything wrong’

Former US President Bill Clinton testified behind closed doors before the House Oversight Committee about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. In a statement, he said that during his meetings with the financier he ‘saw nothing that would cause him to think twice’.

‘We are only here because he hid it so well for so long,’ Clinton said, adding that if he had known about Epstein's alleged trafficking of underage girls, he would never have travelled with him and would have reported him.

Clinton used Epstein's plane several times at the beginning of the millennium, before his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The Justice Department released documents containing photos of Clinton with anonymous women.

‘I didn't see anything and I didn't do anything wrong,’ he said. The day before, Hillary Clinton also testified, saying she did not remember meeting Epstein in person and had no information about his criminal activity.

The committee is led by Republican Congressman James Comer. He emphasised that the Clintons are not accused of any wrongdoing. A video recording of Clinton's testimony could also be released soon.

Democrats call the investigation politically motivated and are demanding that Donald Trump, whose name appears in documents related to Epstein, also be summoned. Trump denies any wrongdoing and has not been charged in this regard.
