Rosatom pulls 94 from Iran as Bushehr remains operational
The Russian state-owned company Rosatom has evacuated 94 people from Iran after the United States and Israel launched strikes targeting the Iranian leadership.
The conflict has reignited tensions in the Middle East and heightened concerns over the safety of foreign workers. According to chief executive Alexei Likhachev, all employees’ children are among those evacuated, along with non-essential staff and others who chose to leave the country.
At the same time, Rosatom confirmed that key personnel remain at the Bushehr nuclear power plant – Iran’s only operational nuclear facility, built by Russia.
The company said it is monitoring the situation and will take further security measures in co-operation with the Russian Foreign Ministry if necessary.
Likhachev also stressed that nuclear facilities should not be targeted under any circumstances.
