Russia and China call for UN Security Council meeting
Russia and China have requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Iran. The Russian state agency RIA reported the move, citing Moscow’s permanent mission to the UN.
According to available information, the discussion will focus on the escalation of tensions in the region and its possible consequences for international security. The request comes as the Middle East faces heightened strain following recent military action and increasingly sharp rhetoric between the parties involved.
Moscow and Beijing have long advocated diplomatic solutions and criticised unilateral interventions without a UN mandate. It remains unclear when the Security Council will meet or whether a draft resolution will be tabled.
