Kremlin says Russian oil key to stabilising energy markets
The Kremlin claims that Moscow and Washington currently agree on at least one point: the effort to stabilise volatile energy markets. Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on the US decision to grant a 30-day exemption for the purchase of Russian oil and petroleum products already at sea.
According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, this is a response to tensions caused by the war in Iran and disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Peskov emphasised that, according to Moscow, it is not possible to stabilise the global market realistically without significant supplies of Russian oil. At the same time, he warned against a further escalation of the global energy crisis.
Despite the partial easing of sanctions, the Trump administration is trying to curb rising energy prices.
