Infrastructure targeted in Russian attack overnight
Russia launched an overnight attack on Ukraine using a large number of drones and missiles. At least four people were killed and damage has been reported in several regions across the country.
The main target was energy infrastructure in the Kyiv region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Residential buildings, schools and businesses were also damaged.
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia used about 430 drones and 68 missiles. Most were shot down by air defences. In addition to the Kyiv region, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Mykolaiv regions were also targeted.
In the Kyiv region, the attack claimed four lives and left at least 15 people injured. Damage has been reported in four districts. The energy ministry also reported that consumers in six regions were left without electricity following the overnight attacks.
