Iran denies role in attacks on Saudi oil facilities

Iran’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, said relations between Iran and the Gulf states will require a ‘thorough reassessment’. According to him, the current US–Israeli war against Iran is creating new conditions in the region while also exposing the problem of long-term dependence on external powers.

He said Tehran is promoting a model of regional cooperation among the Gulf states, Iraq and Iran intended to bring stability and prosperity.

Since the outbreak of the war on February 28, Gulf states have faced more than 2,000 missile and drone attacks that have struck US bases, diplomatic facilities and key oil infrastructure. The United Arab Emirates recorded the highest number of attacks, though incidents were reported across the region.

Enayati also rejected accusations that Iran was behind attacks on Saudi oil facilities, including the Ras Tanura refinery. He said Iran would openly claim responsibility for such operations.

According to him, Tehran targets only US and Israeli sites, and a resolution to the conflict will be possible only if Washington and Tel Aviv halt their operations.
