Gabbard: US and Israel diverge on Iran goals

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has said the United States and Israel are pursuing different strategic objectives in Iran. Speaking at a congressional hearing, she said the divergence is also reflected in military operations.

While Israel is primarily focused on removing the Iranian leadership, the US administration has more narrowly defined military aims. These include weakening Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities and naval forces.

According to statements by US President Donald Trump, the focus is on neutralising the technical and production infrastructure that enables Iran to develop and deploy missile systems.
