Orban urges Zelenskyy to ‘withdraw agents’ from Hungary

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has spoken out against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling on him to ‘withdraw agents’ from Hungary.

In a video posted on social media, he claimed that Ukraine was trying to influence the upcoming parliamentary elections and had turned the country into an operational field for its intelligence services. According to Orban, IT specialists linked to the opposition, specifically the Tisza party, are also involved in these activities.

The prime minister also warned of a scenario in which a pro-Ukrainian government supporting the war could come to power after the elections, which he said would also mean a move away from cheap Russian energy. He stressed that Hungarian authorities were taking steps to protect the elections from foreign interference.

According to a report by a parliamentary committee, the two IT specialists under investigation had contacts in Ukraine and had repeatedly visited the Ukrainian embassy in Budapest. Police carried out searches and seized equipment requiring a licence.
