Attacks in Lebanon shut hospitals, paramedics killed
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of the serious consequences of attacks on health facilities in southern Lebanon. In five separate incidents, nine paramedics were killed and seven others injured. According to WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the attacks affected medical teams in several villages, severely limiting their ability to provide assistance.
The situation is becoming increasingly critical, as repeated strikes have crippled health infrastructure in the region. Four hospitals and dozens of health centres have been forced to close, while others are operating on a limited basis.
The WHO has highlighted the growing risk to civilians, who may find themselves without access to healthcare. At the same time, attacks on health facilities raise questions about compliance with international humanitarian law in the conflict area.
