Britain to deploy drone defence system to Kuwait

The UK will deploy the Rapid Sentry air defence system in Kuwait to help protect British and Kuwaiti interests in the Gulf, the Guardian reported. The decision was announced by the office of Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The deployment follows a telephone conversation between Starmer and Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad al-Sabah. During the call, the prime minister condemned an overnight drone attack on a Kuwaiti oil refinery and expressed support for Kuwait and its allies in the region.

Rapid Sentry is a short-range, ground-based air defence system designed to counter drone threats. Its deployment comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf, where attacks on energy infrastructure have been reported.
