The Pope Leo XIV appeales not to remain indifferent to conflicts

Pope XIV celebrated the Easter Vigil in St Peter's Basilica at the Vatican, in his address he appealed to people not to remain indifferent to the world's devastating conflicts and to strive to build peace. Leo XIV. noted that mistrust and fear have allowed "the bonds between us to be broken through war, injustice and the isolation of peoples and nations."

"Let us not be paralyzed!" the Pope exhorted the faithful during Saturday night's liturgy, when the Catholic faithful commemorate Christ's resurrection. In his homily to thousands of faithful in St Peter's Basilica, the Pope also called on Catholics to follow the example of the saints who, he said, fought for justice so that "the Easter gifts of unity and peace can grow and flourish everywhere".

Last Sunday already he declared that God rejects the prayers of leaders who unleash wars and have "hands full of blood." On Tuesday, he directly addressed U.S. President Donald Trump, calling on him to find a way to end the war currently underway in the Middle East.

Pope Leo will conclude the Easter celebrations on Sunday morning with Mass in St Peter's Square, when he will deliver the traditional Urbi et Orbi (To the City and the World) message.
