Iran and Oman prepare a plan for the Strait of Hormuz

Oman and Iran have discussed ways to ensure smooth shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy routes. The meeting was held at the level of deputy foreign ministers.

According to the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, experts from both countries presented a number of proposals to help stabilise the situation and ensure the transit of ships.

The talks follow Iran's plan to develop a protocol with Oman to monitor traffic in the Strait. The results of the negotiations are not yet known, but they indicate an effort to take coordinated action in a sensitive area.
