Tisza leads Hungarian polls ahead of election
The latest polls suggest that Hungary’s opposition is gaining strength. The Tisza party, led by Peter Magyar, has pulled ahead of Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s ruling Fidesz ahead of parliamentary elections scheduled for 12 April.
According to data from the Iranytu institute, Tisza has the support of 51 per cent of decided voters, while Fidesz trails on 40 per cent. Including all respondents, Tisza maintains its lead, 41 per cent to 34 per cent.
Orban appears to be facing his most serious political challenge in 16 years, although the outcome remains open. The key factor may be the roughly 18 per cent of undecided voters.
