Starmer Talks to Trump on the Strait of Hormuz

Keir Starmer has said he discussed military options and the logistics of ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz with US President Donald Trump.

The conversation took place a day before the prime minister spoke during a visit to the Middle East. He said it focused on the practical challenges of securing navigation through the strategic waterway.

‘We’ve been pulling together a coalition of countries … working on a political, diplomatic plan, but also looking at military capabilities and … the logistics of actually moving vessels through the Strait,’ Starmer said.

He added that these issues were central to his talks with the US president, with the discussion aimed at linking diplomatic efforts to a concrete plan to safeguard navigation in the area.
