US Made Great Progress in Iran Talks, Says Vance

The United States has made significant progress in negotiations with Iran, US Vice President J.D. Vance said on Monday in an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News.

Asked whether further talks were expected, Vance said the ball was in Iran’s court.

He added that the US expected Iran to make progress on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and warned that, if Tehran failed to do so, the negotiations would change.

According to Reuters sources, the two sides were “very close” to an agreement during weekend talks before running into differences. While Washington focused on the nuclear issue and the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran sought a broader deal, two of the sources said.

Negotiations are continuing, with the US insisting that Iran must never have a nuclear weapon. Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons.
