Trump on Iran: "I Have All the Time in the World. Iran Doesn't"

President Trump has said the United States is in no hurry to resolve its standoff with Iran, arguing that time is working against Tehran. "I have all the time in the World, but Iran doesn't — The clock is ticking", he wrote on social media, while expressing confidence that the chances for peace were high and that a deal could be "an easy one" to achieve.

Trump also announced a three-week extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which had been due to expire on Sunday. The truce has been complicated by sporadic Israeli attacks and rocket fire from Hezbollah, Lebanon's main armed force, which is backed by Tehran.

Tensions have meanwhile shifted to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical corridor for global oil and gas exports, which Iran has effectively closed. Washington has responded by reinforcing its military presence in the region, with a third aircraft carrier arriving in recent days. The Pentagon is also maintaining a blockade of vessels carrying Iranian oil and has confirmed the interception of another tanker in the Indian Ocean, according to France 24.

Tehran has said it will keep the strait closed until the US ends its naval operations in the area.

Potential peace talks, which are being discussed in connection with Pakistan, have yet to be given a concrete date.
