Trump Rejects Iran Proposal to Delay Nuclear Talks

US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest proposal to end the two-month-old conflict, according to an administration official.

Tehran has proposed postponing any resolution of its nuclear programme until after the fighting ends and disputes in the Gulf are settled. Washington considers this unacceptable, maintaining that the nuclear issue must be part of negotiations from the outset.

Trump has cancelled a planned visit by his envoys to Pakistan. At the same time, Iran’s foreign minister is holding intensive talks in the region, including with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The conflict is also disrupting global energy supplies and contributing to rising prices.
