Magyar: Authorities Stopped Suspicious Orban-Linked Transfers

Peter Magyar, Hungary's incoming prime minister, has claimed that tax authorities stopped suspicious financial transfers abroad allegedly linked to the circle of Antal Rogan, a close associate of outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Magyar said billions of forints were involved and alleged money laundering.

Magyar published the allegations on social media without providing evidence, and Reuters was unable to independently verify them.

Police confirmed they are investigating a possible case of concealing illegally obtained funds but did not name specific individuals. The tax authorities and the central bank had not responded at the time of publication. Magyar also pointed to the freezing of accounts held by "several front men" linked to the outgoing government.

Magyar has long warned that Orban's allies may seek to move assets abroad before the transfer of power. Rogan, who has also faced US sanctions over corruption allegations, has denied the accusations.
