Iran General Warns Fighting Could Resume
Iranian Brigadier General Mohammad Jafar Asadi warned that a renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is likely, accusing Washington of failing to honor agreements. He said US actions were aimed more at influencing oil prices and masking domestic problems, AFP reported, citing Iran’s Fars news agency.
He added that Iran’s armed forces are prepared to respond to any new move by the US.
Tensions have escalated further after President Donald Trump rejected Tehran’s current offer to resume negotiations. He described Iran’s leadership as divided and warned that the US could intervene with force if diplomacy failed.
The conflict began in late February following US-Israeli attacks on Iran and has since expanded into wider regional fighting. Although a ceasefire was agreed in early April, efforts to secure a lasting settlement have stalled. The situation has been further complicated by a US blockade of Iranian ports and restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran had also disrupted shipping.
