Bank Worker Mistakes Pope Leo XIV for Prank Caller
Pope Leo XIV found himself in an unlikely situation when a bank employee in Chicago refused to believe she was speaking to the head of the Catholic Church and ended the call, the Independent reports.
According to his brother John Prevost, the new pope was attempting to update his contact information after moving to the Vatican. Despite providing his account number and answers to security questions, the clerk hung up when it was mentioned that the client was the Pope living in the Vatican.
John Prevost said the woman assumed she had been the target of a prank call. The matter was eventually resolved with the help of a local clergyman.
Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Prevost, is American.
