Ukraine Expands Drone Diplomacy With Nearly 20 Countries

Kyiv has already brought four military drone cooperation agreements into force and is preparing the first contracts under the new partnerships, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Ukraine is negotiating with almost 20 countries on military drone cooperation, with four agreements already in force, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. He added that the first concrete contracts under the signed partnerships were now being prepared.

In recent months, Kyiv has sought to use its experience from the war with Russia to develop what it calls drone diplomacy. Since the start of the Middle East conflict in late February, Zelensky has made a series of foreign trips, during which Ukraine has concluded several security and defense agreements.

In April, Kyiv signed defense and drone technology partnerships with Germany, Norway and the Netherlands. In late March, Ukraine also established long-term security cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Defense and energy agreements with Azerbaijan followed last month.

Zelensky also indicated that Ukraine was preparing further security cooperation with countries from another region, but did not give details. He said the partnerships were helping Kyiv secure the necessary volumes of fuel.
