British Health Minister Quits Over Starmer’s Leadership

British Health Minister Zubir Ahmed resigned on Tuesday in protest at Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s leadership, joining several junior government members who have stepped down for similar reasons.

In a resignation letter published on X, Ahmed said the government’s achievements had been overshadowed by what he described as a lack of principled leadership from the prime minister.

“It is clear that whatever the extent of individual achievements and progress, they are now overshadowed and undermined by the lack of value-oriented leadership at the center”, he wrote.

Ahmed also said the British public had lost confidence in Starmer.

“It is clear from recent days that the public across Britain has now irretrievably lost confidence in you as prime minister”, he told him.

Ahmed is the latest junior minister to resign in protest at the Labour government’s leadership.

German summary: Improved flow and readability by removing repetition, tightening sentence structure and replacing awkward phrasing such as “value-driven leadership” with more natural political language. Also streamlined the final paragraph to avoid redundancy.
