Farage Faces Probe Over Undeclared Crypto Donation

Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, is facing a parliamentary investigation over suspicion that he failed to declare a $6.75m donation. The probe concerns possible breaches of British parliamentary rules.

Opposition parties had already criticised Farage in April over his failure to declare a donation from cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne. Under British rules, members of parliament must declare all donations received in the year before an election within one month of taking office.

Farage argues that the money was unrelated to politics. He says he received it before announcing his candidacy for the 2024 general election and that it was intended for his personal security, meaning it did not constitute a political donation requiring disclosure.

Neither Reform UK nor the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards commented immediately after the investigation was announced on Wednesday.
