Prince Harry Warns of Rising Anti-Semitism in Britain
Prince Harry has described the rise of anti-Semitism in the UK as “deeply troubling”, warning that anger over events in the Middle East must not translate into hostility toward individuals or religious groups.
Writing in New Statesman, the 41-year-old son of King Charles III also took aim at Israeli government policy, while stressing that legitimate protest must not turn into hatred.
“Jewish communities – families, children, ordinary people – are being made to feel unsafe in the very places they call home. That should alarm us, but also unite us,” he wrote.
Britain has seen a surge in anti-Semitic incidents since the Hamas attack on Israel in 2023 and the subsequent war in Gaza. In recent weeks, there have been arson attacks on Jewish properties in London, while in April police recorded the stabbing of two Jewish men as an act of terrorism.
Harry said that alongside legitimate criticism of governments in the Middle East, hostility toward Jewish communities is increasing. He also acknowledged past mistakes, including wearing a Nazi uniform to a party two decades ago.
