Musk Seeks $150bn from OpenAI as Trial Nears End
The lawsuit between Elon Musk and OpenAI is nearing its final stages in a case that could have a significant impact on the future of artificial intelligence.
Musk accuses OpenAI executives, including chief executive Sam Altman, of turning what was originally a non-profit project into a vehicle for personal enrichment. He claims the organization has strayed from its founding goal of developing safe AI for the benefit of humanity.
Musk is seeking around $150bn in damages and is also demanding the removal of Altman and OpenAI president Greg Brockman from their roles.
OpenAI argues that without a commercial structure it would be unable to fund its technology development or compete with Google and other players. he trial has also produced testimony questioning Altman's credibility.
