Alexander Wendt, born in Leipzig (GDR) in 1966, worked as a journalist for the daily newspapers Leipziger Tageblatt, Die Welt, Tagesspiegel, and Stern since 1989, and as editor of Focus magazine from 1995 to 2019. In 2017, he founded his online magazine Publico, which he has been running ever since. Wendt is the author of numerous books, has been political editor of the magazine Tichys Einblick since 2019, and writes for other newspapers in German-speaking countries.
